Tammy Lacey is the former Superintendent of Schools for Great Falls Public Schools (GFPS). She is a native of Great Falls, where she graduated from C. M. Russell High School. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Montana in 1985, she returned to Great Falls and initially served as a GFPS classroom teacher and the first ever GFPS Teacher on Special Assignment. In 1991, she became an elementary principal, first at Fairfield Elementary in Fairfield, Montana and later at Loy Elementary School in Great Falls. She also served as the GFPS Human Resource Director prior to becoming GFPS Superintendent in 2013. She received her Masters’ degree in Educational Administration and her superintendent’s certification from the University of Montana. In retirement, after 34 years of educational work, she continues to champion public education and its significance to students, families, communities and the state. Her appointment and service to the Board of Public Education allows her to support educational opportunities for ALL of Montana’s children.
