Patty Myers retired in June of 2009, after a thirty-nine year teaching career. Most of those years were spent teaching second grade at Lewis and Clark Elementary in Great Falls. Appointed to the Board of Public Education in 2000 and reappointed in 2007, Myers is an award-winning teacher, having been named Montana Teacher of the Year, a Milken National Educator and a Distinguished Alumna of the University of Montana. She has a special interest in meeting the needs of the students at the Montana School for the Deaf and Blind, having numerous students placed with her over the years. She has learned from them, as they have learned from her.
Myers was born and raised as a Conrad Cowboy, but her allegiance has switched to the GFHS Bison where her daughter, Christine, teaches English. Lucky to have had her grandchildren at Lewis and Clark, Patty taught both Madison and Jake and much of her spare time is now spent being involved in their activities. She also will quickly let you know that she is an avid GRIZ fan!
Patty is very proud of the fact that she is the first practicing teacher to be named as the Chair of the Board. Education has always been her passion, and she is anxious to continue utilizing what she has learned in her classroom as she serves on the Board.
