Julia Maxwell is a proud 4th-generation Montanan who has lived, learned, and worked in her home state throughout her life. Raised on a cattle ranch and farm, Julia developed a deep appreciation for hard work, community, and the values that define Montana.
A graduate of Cascade High School, Julia earned her Bachelor’s in Education from Montana State University Northern, her Master’s in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University, and her Superintendent’s endorsement from Montana State University.
Julia’s career in education spans every grade level, from Pre-Kindergarten to high school seniors, including teaching at a Hutterite Colony. She has taught and coached in schools across Great Falls, Cascade, and Ulm, Montana, before stepping into leadership roles as Principal and Superintendent in Marion, Montana. These experiences have given her a comprehensive understanding of Montana’s educational landscape and the needs of its students and schools.
Julia and her husband, also a Cascade High School graduate, married in 2017. Together, they are the proud parents of five children, four of whom were adopted from foster care. Julia is deeply passionate about supporting children and families and helped establish Royal Family Kids Great Falls, a summer camp and mentorship program designed to bring connection and joy to current and former foster children.
As a lifelong Montanan, Julia is committed to preserving the state’s values and traditions while working to provide the best educational opportunities for its students. Serving on the Montana State Board of Public Education, she brings her unique perspective as a former student, teacher, and administrator. Julia strives to empower Montana’s students to thrive, ensuring they can take pride in their roots and build bright futures within the state.
